Privacy Policy

Account data. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name and email address (with Apple, this can be a private relay address).

Profile and plan. During onboarding you provide sex, birth date, height, weight, goal, pace and activity level. We use them to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets. We also store your time zone so reminders arrive at the right local time.

Food diary. The foods you log (name, brand, amount, calories, macros and other nutrients, date and meal), the foods you create, your saved meals, and the list of packaged products you have opened.

Weight log. The weights you log and, if you turn on Apple Health, weights imported from it.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, a push token so we can send the reminders and updates you have turned on.

Usage analytics and crash reports. Described below.

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history or advertising identifier, and LensPlate 2.0 does not upload photos.

Your food diary is kept in a database on your iPhone, so it opens instantly and works without a connection. It is synced to your account so it is backed up and comes back after a reinstall. Signing out removes it from the phone; it stays in your account until you delete your account.

Apple Health sync is optional and off until you turn it on in Account → Apple Health. When it is on:

• LensPlate writes the calories, protein, carbs and fat of the food you log, and the weights you log, to Apple Health.
• LensPlate reads your body weight from Apple Health (for example from a smart scale) and saves it to your LensPlate account so your progress chart is complete.

Data from Apple Health is never used for advertising, marketing or analytics, is never sold, and is never shared with third parties. It is not sent to our analytics or crash-reporting services. You can turn the sync off at any time in the app or in the Health app.

When you search for a packaged product or scan a barcode, the search text or barcode is sent directly to Open Food Facts, a free collaborative food database, to look up the product. Your name, email and account ID are not sent. Product photos are loaded from Open Food Facts' servers. Like any website, Open Food Facts can see your device's IP address; their own privacy policy applies to it.

Usage analytics (PostHog, United States). We record which screens and features are used — for example, that a food was logged and how (recent foods, search or barcode). These events are linked to a random account ID, not to your name or email. They never include what you eat, amounts, body measurements, barcodes or search text. You can turn them off in Account → Privacy → Share usage analytics.

Crash reports (Sentry, European Union). When the app crashes or hits an error, Sentry receives technical details such as the device model, iOS version and app version. Crash reports are not linked to your account.

LensPlate runs on a small set of providers. Each one processes only what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — database and sign-in: your account, plan, diary and weight log.
• Apple and Google — Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In.
• Expo— delivers push notifications through Apple's push notification service.
• PostHog (United States) — usage analytics.
• Sentry (European Union) — crash reports.
• Cloudflare R2 — stores encrypted backups of our database.
• Open Food Facts — product lookups, as described above.
• Vercel — hosts this website.
• Featurebase — our public feedback board; using it is optional.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Version 1.0 of LensPlate offered photo scanning: meal photos were kept in private storage and sent to OpenAI to estimate their nutrition. LensPlate 2.0 removed this feature and no longer uploads photos. If you still use version 1.0, that processing continues until you update. Photos uploaded with version 1.0 stay in private storage tied to your account until you delete your account.

Subscriptions sold in version 1.0 are billed by Apple (RevenueCat handled their status). You can manage or cancel them in Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.

• To keep your food diary and weight log, and sync them to your account.
• To calculate and update your calorie and macro targets.
• To send the reminders and updates you have turned on.
• To fix crashes and improve the app.
• To answer you when you contact support.

This website counts visits with Vercel Analytics and PostHog, without cookies. It does not use advertising trackers.

• Export: Account → Export my diary saves every food you have logged as a CSV file. Email us for a copy of everything else in your account.
• Correct: edit your profile, plan, diary and weights in the app.
• Delete: Account → Delete Account, or email us.
• Object to analytics: Account → Privacy → Share usage analytics.
• Notifications: turn them off in Account or in iOS Settings.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as asking what data we hold about you. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account deletes your profile, plan, food diary, weight log, saved meals, the products you have opened, and photos from version 1.0.

Encrypted database backups are kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data disappears from them within that time. Usage analytics events are not deleted automatically when you delete your account; email us and we will delete them. Crash reports are not linked to you and expire on Sentry's schedule. Apple keeps its own records of purchases made in version 1.0.

The fastest way is in the app: Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), access to your account data is restricted to your signed-in account, and database backups are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

LensPlate is meant for people aged 16 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

LensPlate is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. The data you enter is used to run the app, not to give medical advice.

When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
